Merits & Tree makes five hires

Merits & Tree Law Offices has hired four associates – Philip Qiao and Kelly Zheng at its Beijing headquarters; Stone Huang and Fan Qiuping in the firm’s Shenzhen branch – as well as Song Yaqin as counsel in Beijing.

Qiao specializes in dispute resolution, bankruptcy reorganization and special investments, government regulation and compliance. His work mainly concerns technological media and telecommunications (TMT), new energies, foreign trade and construction industries. He is an arbitrator of the Hainan International Court of Arbitration and has five years of experience as a judge in Beijing. For the past two years, he has been recognized as an A-List attorney by Review of business law in China. Qiao joins East & Concord Partners where he was a partner.

Huang’s practice focuses on investment and mergers and acquisitions financing, capital markets, corporate governance and compliance, particularly cross-border transactions and commercial negotiations. Huang was a partner at Dentons China, senior legal counsel and special expert adviser at Walmart China, and a senior partner at JunHe.

Fan joins Jia Yuan Law Offices where she was a partner, while Zheng worked at the China office of World Animal Protection, Fangda Partners and Global Law Firm. Both specialize in corporate mergers and acquisitions, securities capital markets, and venture capital/venture capital investing and financing.

Song is the head of the Merits & Tree Perennial Legal Services Center and is responsible for organizing the regular legal services task force. She has worked for the China Development Research Foundation, Tongfang Group and Dayue Consulting, and has expertise in public infrastructure investment and financing.
