Fox News says an account on Truth Social bearing his name is unauthorized, days after the site’s CEO hosted the conservative outlet
Fox News denied having a presence on Truth Social, Donald Trump’s new social media site, shortly after its CEO welcomed the right-wing news site to the platform, Axios reported.
On Wednesday, Devin Nunes, the former congressman who runs Trump’s new social media platform, hosted Fox News on the site.
“Great to have an RSS feed for @FoxNews now LIVE here on TRUTH! This is in addition to @OAN and @NewsMax,” Nunes said in a post on the platform that Insider reviewed.
Previously, an account bearing the Conservative news agency‘s branding and a verification label had appeared on the platform.
But there was a problem, with Fox News denying in a statement to Axios having an account on the site.
“We are not on Truth Social,” a spokesperson told the outlet.
A Fox News spokesperson confirmed to Insider that the network is not on the platform.
Insider reached out to Fox News for comment, but did not immediately receive a response early Thursday morning.
According to Axios, accounts with the names of several other brands, including NASCAR and NASA, are present on the site, but upon closer inspection, disclaimers indicate that they are robot accounts that aggregate content from these sources and have no affiliation with the companies.
The Fox News account has no such statement.
